Programme > Networking events

The core scientific programme will be complemented by a line-up of networking activities, briefly described below.

Sunday, 2 June

An informal social dinner in Exeter will be organised for TRTM delegates coming to Exeter early.

Monday, 3 June

Tours (from 10:00-11:00 and 11:00-12:00) of the Exeter Time-Resolved Magnetism (ExTReMag) facility and other laboratories conducting research on magnonics, high-frequency spintronics, and ultrafast magnetism will be organised.  Please assemble near the main entrance of Reed Hall to take part.

Welcome reception will take place at Reed Hall, to allow the delegates to get together while enjoying a drink and canapes.

Wednesday, 5 June

Expectedly, perhaps, the inaugural Round Table event will feature an excursion to Tintagel Castle, a historic site situated on the clifftops of North Cornwall and inextricably linked with the legend of King Arthur, and an afternoon tea at Camelot Castle.

Please note that, due to the rugged coastal landscape, there are steep slopes, sheer drops, and uneven surfaces, which can present a challenge to visitors. Sturdy shoes and weather appropriate clothes are recommended.  Please visit the Castle’s access page for detailed information and advice for visitors, including those with limited mobility. This video will also be useful for knowing what to expect.

The bus will depart from Reed Hall at 12:15, with the journey expected to take about 1.5 hour, and the same bus will then take us to Camelot Castle at 16:15, with the journey taking about 5-10 min.  After the tea, the bus back will depart at 18:30, arriving to Exeter at about 20:00, stopping first at Mercure Rougemont and then at Reed Hall.

Thursday, 6 June

TRTM banquet will take place at Reed Hall following a drinks reception.

The delegates will be able to use the time before banquet either for a hands-on seminar on MaxLLG software, or for smaller group meetings and discussions.

Friday, 7 June

An informal walking tour around Exeter and a local pub visit will be organised for delegates departing from Exeter the day after.
